Hungry Man Jamaica : A Delicious Lunchtime Makeover
I think by now you have probably come to realize that I’m just a wee bit of a foodie….. Okay! Okay! I admit it! I’m more than a wee bit, it’s more like a lot bit. Whew! Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest (confession really is good for the soul isn’t it?). I will also admit that I loooooooooooove new food experiences. And if those food experiences just happened to join the ranks of my new favourite meal time options; then that’s even better. So allow me to introduce you all to Hungry Man Jamaica, the tastiest new lunchtime company on the block.
Sometimes you get the best messages in your DMs. It’s not all ‘Hi’ or ‘ Can we talk?’ messages being slid in there. There are some great conversations waiting to happen that are started there. One such conversation happened between myself and Hungry Man Ja. They wonderfully reached out to me and introduced themselves, told me about their company and offerings, and then the conversation went on from there. See simple, sweet and not at all rude or weird or any other thing I heard that’s been happening in the DMs lately.
Who is Hungry Man Jamaica?
Now that you’ve learnt how we met, allow me to introduce you to the company. Launched November 2019; Hungry Man Jamaica is one of the newest lunch meal service to come onto the Kingston food scene. Offering a selection of healthy lunch options in the Kingston Corporate Area, they deliver freshly made meals right to your doorsteps. The company offers free delivery in and around the Kingston Corporate Area, but if you’re a bit out of range, then you may incur an additional charge of $500 JMD for delivery. If the delivery part is still an issue, then your meal can also be collected at Ragamuffin Cafe on Lady Musgrave Road.
What’s on the menu?
Hungry Man Ja offers a selection of freshly made wraps and salads. You also have the choice of also getting a rice box served with yellow rice and a choice of either chicken or vegetables. Their signature dish is their wraps. Tortillas made fresh from scratch every morning serve as the base and backdrop for their offerings of tuna, chicken and vegetarian wraps.
For my choice, I decided to have the most boasted about Chicken Wrap.
Presentation
I must admit, I love good presentation. I think good presentation or packaging adds to the overall appeal of a product or meal. It invokes feelings of excitement even before you’ve delved further into the experience. And with this regard, Hungry Man Jamaica DID NOT disappoint. The wrap was covered in a checkered food wrapping paper with the Hungry Man Ja logo sticker providing the seal. And the this was placed and served in a parchment brown paper bag.
The chicken wrap itself came in a soft, fresh tortilla bread that’s served and stuffed with of well-marinated grilled chicken, black beans, onions, sweet pepper, corn, lettuce, cabbage, mayo and their spicy sauce folded together and then cut into halves.
My Review
Now I have had my share of wraps in my lifetime. I even consider myself a bit of a wrap connoisseur, seeing as how I eat them all the time and even make them as well. So trust me when I tell you that this wrap was A1. They say a hungry man is an angry man but I think we may be starting to reconsider the sentiment with this Hungry Man. Their wrap was absolutely delicious. Talk about fresh and well-balanced. There was nothing that was overpowering the rest of the meal. Every ingredient played its role to absolute perfection. The ingredients were fresh, the chicken was succulent and the condiments paired so well and really highlighted yet complemented the meal. Absolutely orgasmic.
And if the taste isn’t enough for you, let’s add the fact that it is very filling to the conversation. I literally had to eat only a half at a time. Do you know how much of a struggle that is? Being lured in and seduced by the magnificent taste, only to be foiled by your belly being too full to go on. I like delayed gratification and all but come on man, that was just pure torture. My mouth salivating at the next opportunity that I get to finish my wrap. Here is a little insider behind the scenes secret: the wrap almost didn’t make it through the shoot. There were literally almost no pictures to go along with this post. So I guess my belly being full worked out in that regard. I suppose that’s a plus or whatever.
Overall
This delicious meal was absolutely scrumptious and filling. I think it is great value for money and is perfect for the on the go/ busy or the person who is so swamped at work that it’s hard to leave their office for food; who wants to have a healthy, filling, value for price meal.
