Adehya Villa, Trelawny, Jamaica

A Cozy Home Away From Home at Adehya Villa

Adehya (pronounced ah-deh-yah) is a luxury villa escape located in Duncans, Trelawny on the North Coast of Jamaica. The word ‘adehya’ is a Jamaican expression meaning ‘I am here’ or ‘I have arrived’, which is exactly the kind of homey/ I have finally arrived feel I believe the owners were going for when they built and decorated this villa.

Usually, when people hear Jamaica and vacation, the parish of Trelawny doesn’t immediately come to mind. More than likely, the tourist hot spots of Ocho Rios, Montego Bay or Negril are the front-runners in the vacation destination contest. But, quiet and unassuming Trelawny is slowly but surely gaining its popularity as a superb option for a dream Jamaica destination. Trelawny is smack dab between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay, approximately an hour apart from each, which allows visitors a unique Jamaican experience of a less tourist saturated location, coupled with the freedom of venturing to the other destinations without using much travel time.

How Not To Get There

Usually I try to give you guys detailed directions on how to get to the featured destination of the post. However, my journey to Adehya was marred with complications. You see I was leaving from work so I hadn’t traveled out with my companions for the weekend. And it was probably a good thing too because that’s where the trouble began. First my car alarm would not stop going off and ended up stalling my car. Le sigh. This resulted in me having to call a technician who fixed it.

So thinking everything was all clear, I made my way to the highway and ventured off to Trelawny. But, that’s when problem #2 occurred. I noticed my car was making a sound and did not have enough power to accelerate as I’m used to. Now, at this time it was getting dark and the highway doesn’t have any lights just reflectors and I am stuck on the highway by myself. So I called the highway assistance but because I was terrified, I ended up driving as carefully as possible to the tollway that I was thankfully close to and waited there for them. Turns out my O2 sensor had gotten loose and so after replacing it, I was good to go. Oy vey.

And finally, I was off. When i finally made it to Trelawny, Guess who got lost?! Turns out there are 2 entrances to the Duncans community and my directions to Adehya were not from the entrance I entered by. So guess who had to call her friends to pick her up and tail them to the villa? And after all of this, I finally made it. But in all the disarray and hullabaloo, I never really took full notes of the route. Sorry. Whew!

Accomodations

Adehya is located in the Silver Sands Gated Community, just a few minutes away from the mesmerizing Silver Sands Beach.  It’s situated at Lot 66 on Lobster Lane, which is pretty close to the guarded entrance to the community. Upon entering the villa, you’re immediately greeted by the gorgeous decor. Fresh, modern furnishing peppered the location to give a bit of an artistic feel.

Adehya is owned and operated by Jamaican entrepreneur and travel blogger Matthew Chin, and I could see that he took careful consideration in crafting a destination that was not only aesthetically appeasing, but truly comfortable and cozy as well.

The villa is a 4 bedroom, 4 and a half bathroom destination that is perfect for a group getaway or outing. The rooms were spectacular to be honest. Absolutely stunning. Each room having it’s own story and displaying its own personality in the decor. The rooms are aptly called the  Zen room, Freedom room, Homely and Vibrant rooms; and they couldn’t have been better named for their personalities. They were spacious, clean and truly comfortable. I got some of the best sleep I’ve had in years in my room. And each room came with its own attached bathroom so you have some privacy when you need it the most. :D

Outdoors

Rivaling the interior decor, the outdoors was not to be overlooked. Pops of Caribbean blue could be seen peeking through the chic black decor. The outside patio providing a comfortable dining experience for those moments you just want to sit out and embrace the gentle breeze passing by.

The poolside conjuring up images of being at a luxury all-inclusive hotel with it’s swim-up bar and comfortable lounge chairs along its perimeter for you to lay out. And the catwalk entryway leading to a cozy and plush seating area, making you feel like you’re on your own runway and about to have your very own photo shoot by a famed photographer.

The villa also has an outdoor bathroom fully equipped with a toilet, shower, sink to wash up and comes stocked with toilettries.

Yummy Time

Adehya villa comes fully staffed with a housekeeper, butler and chef to cater to your needs. For our stay, we were tended to by Sally and Yvette. As it relates to meals, you have two options. You can either have the staff do the grocery shopping for you or you can bring your own groceries. The meals are then prepared to your taste and liking 3 times a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Scrumptious meals had us salivating as the scent wafted to our noses. Our stomachs growling in eager anticipation for the meal we were about to have. And trust me, the meals did not disappoint. We ate to our bellies glee and heart’s content for every meal we had there.

Fun in the Sun and More

Unlike an all-inclusive hotel, the norm for a villa is a wonderful stay that doesn’t really have activities. It allows you the freedom to choose how you want to spend your time and where you want to go if you go off the property.

Sprinkled throughout Trelawny and the nearby Ocho Rios and Montego Bay are a host of activities for anyone to do, such as venturing to the nearby Glistening Waters and Chukka Good Hope or taking a scenic walk to the Silver Sands beach for a nice beach day. However, for majority of our trip we actually opted to spend it just enjoying the villa. Save for one day that we went to the beach; most of our stay was just lazing around by the pool. We laughed, we chatted, watched movies, swam in the pool and played games to keep ourselves entertained. We also kept up with our outside lives via the wireless internet that was available.

Adehya also comes with a nice, relaxing outdoor Jacuzzi that we did not utilize, and two bicycles for a wonderful ride around the neighborhood. I’ll let you all in on a little secret. I don’t know how to ride a bicycle. The pictures below were purely for the gram. Lol! A creator just has gotta do what a creator has gotta do.

Below I’ve added a short video I made of my Adehya Experience. Check it out for a more immersive experience.

Overall, my stay at Adehya Villa was a remarkable one. A truly tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of Kingston city life. I would definitely go back for another stay here.

And in the immortal words of Porky Pig “Th-th-th-that’s all folks!” I hope you’ve enjoyed this review of Adehya Villa.
